Andrea Rodriguez

Council Ward 3

Andrea (Andie) Rodriguez was a Sheet Metal Worker with Local 33, Cleveland from 1992-2001 when an opportunity to work as an in house, skilled tradesman, tinsmith became available with Ford Motor Company, Brookpark, Ohio in 2001. Andie remained at Ford until the Grey Iron Foundry closed in 2007.

In 2007, Andie and her four children moved from Fairview Park to Brunswick, where they merged with Ernesto Rodriguez’s family, bringing the brood to eight children.

Andie and Ernesto experienced a, “total loss” house fire in January of 2009.  The community rallied to help, and the support was incredible. This outpouring of support from the community sparked Andie’s interest in being a Council representative for Brunswick.

Andie completed a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the National Labor College (NLC) in April of 2014.

Andie attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science from 2014-2016 and passed her national board exams for funeral director and embalmer in January of 2017.  She remained working for Local 33 as a sheet metal mechanic and worked in a local, family owned funeral home until yet another opportunity she had pursued for many years opened in 2015 to become an apprentice in the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC), where she is an apprentice today.

In August of 2017, Andie graduated from Ursuline college’s Socially Conscious MBA program. The core values of this program being placed on people, planet and purpose have prepared Andie as a councilwoman in a unique way.

Andie and her husband are also Independent Business Owners with ACN, providing essential services people use every day. The program works in conjunction with Project Feeding Kids to feed hungry children in their customers’ zip code.

Andie wants Brunswick to remain a city she both wants to grow old in as well as her children to stay and raise their families.

She can be reached by phone at (216) 318 4004.

Council biographies

Brian Ousley

Council at Large

I have been a long time resident of Brunswick (34+ years), graduated from Brunswick High School in 1979, and am married with two children. I have been in the construction industry for 30+ years and a construction craft laborer for 26 years with Laborers Local #310.

As Councilman I plan:

  1. to be accountable to the citizens of Brunswick, because the citizens entrust the position of an elected official to be responsible for their actions.
  2. to work for the betterment of the city when policies are brought before the legislative body.
  3. to build teamwork between government and the citizens of Brunswick, because that is what the citizens expect.
  4. to work closely with other members of council, the City Manager and the Mayor to keep our city progressing in a positive direction.

As a husband and father I care deeply about our city and its future. I feel fortunate to have grown up here and to see Brunswick’s development. However I think there is room for growth and improvement. I believe my values and vision are what is necessary for Brunswick and its residents to thrive.
